Demand for quick implementation of DAP to ensure a livable Dhaka

RAJUK has finalized the Detailed Area Plan (DAP) covering an area of 1,528 square kilometers of Dhaka city. This was finalized in a gazzete notification issued by the Ministry of Housing and Public Works. To ensure a livable Dhaka city it is essential to implement the plans adopted by DAP quickly. By keeping the population density of different areas of Dhaka city proportional to the civic facilities, to reduce the use of private cars by building pedestrian-friendly infrastructure, to create green network-blue network, open public spaces for city dwellers- various proposals have been given in this plan. Today, on October 15, 2022, Saturday, at 11.00 am in the Koiborto conference room Work for a Better Bangladesh Trust, the speakers raised the demand for quick implementation of DAP in the seminar titled 'Review of Policies and Plans Necessary for Liveable Dhaka'.

Urban Planner Hisam Uddin Chishti presented keynote speeches in the meeting and it was moderated by Ziaur Rahman, Senior Project Manager of Work for a Better Bangladesh Trust. Deputy Team Leader of DAP Khandaker Niaz Rahman, Project Director of DAP Md Ashraful Islam, Director of Work for a Better Bangladesh Trust Gaous Pearee were present as discussants of the seminar.

Besides, representatives from Rayer Bazar High School, Dhaka Ideal Cadet School, Dhanmondi Kachikantha High School, Ali Hossain Girls School, Dhaka International University, Cyclers of Bangladesh, Society of the Deaf and Sign Language Users (SDSL), Central Development Partnership (CDP), Team Inclusion Bangladesh, Bangladesh Cycle Lane Bastobayon Parishad, Bangladesh Tourist Cyclist, World Concern, Pras Bangladesh, Youth Climate Network, Car Free Cities Alliance Bangladesh, Institute of Wellbeing Bangladesh and Work for a Better Representatives of Bangladesh Trust, were also present in the meeting.
